TO THE BIBLE:
Romans 8:16-17
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.“

LET’S TALK
In the first chapter of Ephesians, Paul talks about how God showed His awe-inspiring power when He raised Jesus from the dead and gave Him the highest authority in heaven (Ephesians 1:20). Jesus has all power and glory. How amazing is that? Now, look at what the Bible says in Ephesians 2:6: God “…raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” The same God who raised Jesus from the dead and gave Him authority also raised us up and made us sit with Jesus in heavenly places. This is incredible!

The term “sit together” comes from the Greek word “sugkathizō,” meaning joint sitting or shared authority. This means we share authority with Christ. We are where He is, and we have what He has. The authority Jesus has is extended to us. So, everything Jesus commands is done in our name, and everything we command is done in His Name.

This is totally legit. Our “joint sitting” with Christ isn’t something earthly but heavenly; it’s established in heaven. In Matthew 18:18 (RSV), before Jesus went back to heaven, He said, “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

We are His legal representatives on earth, and what we declare here is backed up in heaven. We have the responsibility to show God’s glory in our world and make sure His will is done on earth. So, confidently use your authority in Christ. Make God’s will happen and show His Kingdom wherever you are.

[19] And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, [20] Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places], [21] Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come. [22] And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church], [Ps. 8:6.] [23] Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].

Colossians 3:1-4;
[1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Philippians 2:9-11
[9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

PRAY:
Dear Father, thank you for the privilege and blessing to have joint sitting with Christ and for the authority and responsibility you’ve reposed in the Church to enforce your will in the earth. Even now, your righteousness, excellence, beauty and grace fill the nations, and your Kingdom reigns and rules in men’s hearts, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
