“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?”

LET’S TALK
There’s a difference between how angels interacted with people in the Old Testament and how they interact with us now in the New Testament. In the Old Testament, angels had authority over people, even to the point of punishing those who did wrong.

A simple example is the story of Zechariah. Although it’s found in what is generally indicated as “The New Testament” in most Bibles, it actually happened in the Old Testament. The archangel Gabriel brought Zechariah the news that he and his wife would have a child in their old age. When Zechariah doubted the message, Gabriel punished him by making him dumb until John the Baptist was born! (see Luke 1:19–20).

But things changed in the New Testament. Now, angels are our servants! The Bible says in Hebrews 1:14, “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” We are the heirs of salvation.

In the Old Testament, angels ministered to people. But in the New Testament, they minister for us saints—that is, they work on our behalf. This is amazing! It shows how real and powerful our connection with the Lord Jesus is because we operate in His Name. In His Name, we can give instructions, and angels will obey. The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:22: “Who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject to Him. ”

PRAY
Dear Father, thank you for the authority you’ve given me in Christ Jesus to reign and rule over all things. Thank you for your holy angels that minister for me. Right now, in the Name of Jesus, I dispatch them to bring to pass all that you’ve ordained to happen in my life and for me today, in Jesus Name. Amen.
