“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
God made you wonderfully special and unique—there’s no one else in the whole world exactly like you. And Jesus said you are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). What does that mean?
It means your life is meant to shine—to be bright with God’s love, joy, kindness, and excellence so others can see your light.
Think of Joseph. Even when his brothers were unkind to him, even when he became a slave, and even he was thrown into prison, he didn’t stop shining. Joseph kept trusting God and doing everything with excellence. And soon, God promoted him to become a great leader in Egypt.
Just like Joseph, you can shine wherever you are—at school, at home, in church, or with friends. When you choose to be kind, helpful, joyful, and full of love, your light shines brightly, and people will see your good works and glorify your heavenly Father.

“[1] Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. [2] For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall rise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.”

Thank you, Lord, for making me a child of light. I shine brightly with your love, wisdom, and excellence everywhere I go. Amen.
