“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” (Colossians 3:16).
Have you ever wondered what you would do if Jesus suddenly appeared in front of you? Would you shout for joy, kneel down, or just stand amazed? Whatever you do will come from what is in your heart—your spirit.
Think about Saul, who later became Paul. He was on his way to hurt Christians when suddenly, a bright light from heaven shone around him. He heard Jesus speak, but because his heart was full of anger and confusion, all he could say was “Who are you, Lord?”(Acts 9:5). His response showed the condition of his spirit at that moment.
That’s why it’s so important to fill your heart with God’s Word—by reading your Bible, listening to God’s teachings, and praying in tongues every day. When God’s fills your heart richly, your spirit becomes trained to hear, recognize, and respond to God the right way.

“As for me, this [is] my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that [is] upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.”
