“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
LET’S TALK
Dr David Yonggi Cho once told a story about how, as a young preacher, he tried to spice up his sermons with philosophy to show the people how learned he was. After the service, he met an elderly man who happened to be a Professor of philosophy. All the while he thought he impressed the congregation, the elderly man wasn’t impressed. He advised the young preacher to stop trying to impress anyone with his “elementary” philosophy. Pastor Cho, though unhappy about the rebuke, made up his mind to specialise in the Bible.
That’s what I made up my mind a long time ago to do, and I encourage you to do the same. Even if you’re amazing at sports, gaming, music, or school, make sure you’re also a “Word Specialist.” Get to know God by studying the Word, and let it be your go-to guide no matter where you are. Memorise the Scriptures.
To experience true and lasting success in life, the Word of God is what you need: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8). God’s Word will make you an all-round success, including your academics.
It doesn’t matter how smart you are in school or how talented you are at anything else; what really matters is becoming an expert in God’s Word. Keep learning it, living it, and letting it guide your choices. That’s how you’ll manifest success in life.

PRAY
Dear Father, thank you for the precious and eternal gift of your Word. As I study your Word, I declare that my heart is open to receive it with faith, gladness, and meekness. Your Word is my life and my meditation, and I apply myself to knowing it and living by what it says, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
