TO THE BIBLE
Matthew 28:19
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
LET’S TALK
In government, certain names carry great authority. A document signed in the name of a head of state can trigger nationwide action without further approval. The power isn’t in the paper or the ink. It’s in the name behind it.
In our opening text above, the Lord Jesus didn’t say ”Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the names of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Rather, He said, ”…baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost;” That name is the Name of Jesus. We can tell that this is a fact from observing how the apostles carried out the Master’s instruction in Matthew 28:19; they baptised people in the Name of Jesus.
The Apostle Paul did the same. When he encountered a group of disciples in Ephesus, he asked them if they had received the Holy Spirit, and they said no. He then preached the gospel to them and the Bible says, ”they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 19:5). When Peter preached to the people in Acts 2:38, he said, ”Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” The early disciples and apostles of Jesus Christ never baptised anyone in the “names” of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost; they baptised them in the “Name” of Jesus.
The Bible says, ”Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth” (Philippians 2:9-10). The Father has declared that the Name of Jesus is higher than every name in the universe. No wonder the Bible declares that it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell (Colossians 1:19).
There’s no other name that is higher than the Name of Jesus. God has vested all His authority in that Name. When you call on Jesus in prayer at school, at home, or even in a tough moment with friends,the power of heaven is backing you. That’s why when you call the Name of Jesus, the Father and the Holy Ghost respond!

PRAY
Dear Father, thank you for the wonderful Name of Jesus that is above every other Name! When I call that Name in faith, all of heaven responds, and the power of the Godhead is manifested. No devil or negative situation can withstand the power of that Name; I thank you so much for the wonderful privilege and blessing of using and living in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
