LET’S TALK
A young pilot once took his first solo flight after weeks of ground training. He knew the theory of flying, but when he encountered unexpected turbulence, all that theory had to be put into work. He remembered his instructor’s words, adjusted the controls, and safely leveled the plane. If he didn’t have that knowledge, perhaps it would have led to a casualty. His knowledge in action made the difference! After learning to live by godly principles (virtue), the next thing the Bible says to add is knowledge. The Greek word used here is “gnosis”—it refers to practical, scientific, or learned knowledge. It’s the information you gather from study and experience.
God wants you to be informed and enlightened. Some people live in ignorance and wonder why they keep failing. They think spirituality is enough, yet they ignore learning and growth. No, that’s not God’s plan for you! He wants you wise, intelligent, and excellent in everything. Be a student of the Word, but also open your mind to learn and understand your world. Read, study, and grow. Learn how things work. Understand the world you live in so that you can function effectively in it.
But knowledge doesn’t just stop at knowing—it must translate into doing. The proof of what you know is in how you live and respond to life. For example, if you’re a student, don’t just know the theories; apply yourself diligently to produce results. If you’re in business, let what you’ve learned guide your planning, your ethics, and your relationships. If you’re in ministry, use your understanding of God’s Word to minister effectively and wisely to people. Knowledge in action produces excellence, just like that young pilot—it is what keeps you steady in the turbulence of life.
Don’t be the one who says, “I don’t know, and I don’t care.” That attitude leads to failure and mediocrity. Learn about your nation, your city, and your environment. Stay informed about things that affect your community and the world. When you’re informed, you can pray more accurately, speak more wisely, and make decisions that influence others for Christ.
The more knowledge you acquire—both spiritual and practical—the greater your capacity for impact. The Holy Spirit can only bring to your remembrance what you’ve put inside you (John 14:26). So, fill your heart and mind with the right information. Keep learning, keep growing, and you’ll always stand out.
