Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. Luke 12:16

Jesus once told a story about a rich man who had so much harvest that he didn’t know where to keep them. Instead of thanking God or helping others, he decided to build bigger barns to store everything for himself. He said, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”

The Lord Jesus said that’s how it is with people who store up treasures only for themselves but aren’t rich toward God. To be rich toward God means putting Him first and using what you have to bless others and spread the Gospel.

You can be rich toward God by giving your time, money, and gifts to help others and support God’s work. When you do, you’re laying up treasures in Heaven that last forever.

SCRIPTURE READING
Matthew 6:19-21
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: [21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

LET’S PRAY
Dear gracious Father, thank you for teaching me to be rich toward you. I give joyfully and use everything I have to bless others and share your Word. My heart is set on eternal things, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
